Clinical Rotation:
WellStar West Georgia and Dialysis
I completed my clinical inpatient rotation at Wellstar West Georgia, an adult acute care center in LaGrange, GA. During this experience, I conducted nutrition assessments, screened for malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies, provided diabetes and heart-healthy diet education, and performed nutrition-focused physical exams. I also presented a clinical case study and became proficient in EMR charting. This rotation strengthened my clinical skills and deepened my appreciation for the vital role dietitians play in delivering quality patient care.
During my dialysis rotation in LaGrange, GA, I worked under a Registered Dietitian to support patients receiving hemodialysis. I helped provide nutrition education, created new materials about the renal diet, and reviewed patient lab results. I also assisted with end-of-month reports and made suggestions for diet changes based on each patient’s needs. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of renal nutrition and how to support patients with chronic kidney disease.
