Health Extension Rotation:

I had the privilege of working under many Health Extension professionals in the Lee County area. During our time with Auburn and Lee County Extension, we attended Body Quest classes and witnessed how they positively impact students' lives by encouraging healthy eating habits. Body Quest is part of the SNAP-Ed federal nutrition program, which provides evidence-based nutrition education to low-income families through Alabama Extension Services. The program includes engaging activities like interactive games, taste tests, and videos to help third-grade students become more familiar with nutritious foods. We saw firsthand how these classes encouraged kids to try vegetables for the first time, proving their effectiveness in promoting healthier eating habits both in school and at home. We also conducted needs assessments, created a sample social media post schedule, curated blog posts, and even created a recipe with a nutrient analysis. I had a very informative and beneficial three weeks with Alabama Extension!
